Former Super Eagles defender Abiodun Obafemi has blasted Nigeria’s CHAN Eagles for their sluggish and uncoordinated display in the 1-0 loss to Senegal in Zanzibar. Wake Up or Go Home!” — Abiodun Obafemi Blasts CHAN Eagles After Senegal Defeat

Former Super Eagles star, Abiodun Obafemi, has come down hard on Nigeria’s CHAN Eagles following their disappointing 1-0 loss to Senegal in Zanzibar.

Obafemi didn’t mince words, describing the team’s display as “passive, slow, and lacking the fire that modern football demands.” He pointed out that the Eagles’ build-up play was sluggish, the wingers failed to make decisive runs, and overall coordination was poor — a sharp contrast to Senegal’s sharp transitions and relentless attacking intent.

“Senegal wanted it more. They were faster, hungrier, and committed. We looked like we were waiting for something to happen instead of making it happen,” Obafemi lamented.

With just one group game left, the former defender warned that anything short of a strong reaction could see Nigeria crash out early. “If we don’t wake up and get a positive result in the next match, qualification will be a dream that dies here in Zanzibar,” he cautioned.

Now, all eyes are on the CHAN Eagles — can they bounce back, or will Senegal’s sting end their campaign before it truly begins?
